A native of Houston, Tx, Mandell Butler developed a love for art at a very early age. After spending the majority of his adolescence as a graphic artist, Mandell earned an academic scholarship to Prairie View A&M University as a Mechanical Engineering major. However, after a chance meeting with acclaimed acting teacher/director, C. Lee Turner, Mandell discovered his true passion for acting. With a new determination to make acting his life's pursuit, Mandell made the courageous decision to change his major to theatre, challenging Turner to transform a fledgling acting student into a professionally trained actor!  Living by the credo, "nothing ever comes to one that is worth having, except as the result of hard work", Mandell submerged himself in a program that had an astonishing 89% failure rate. Three years, 20 main stage productions and 50 variety skits later, Mandell achieved SUCCESS and had the training necessary to take on the acting world.

Immediately after graduating he landed a principal role in John Lee Hancock's, The Alamo, filming across Dennis Quaid. Upon the film’s completion in 2003, Mandell decided to continue pushing the limits of his career by relocating to New York. He immediately began working professionally on both stage and screen, performing work such as the Barter Theatre's production of A Higher Place in Heaven and a national tour in the Periwinkle National Theatre’s production of Halfway There. Mandell landed roles in projects that include Michael Bregman's Carltio's Way: Rise to Power, appearing across Jay Hernandez and Luis Guzman--Everybody’s Fine, appearing across Robert DeNiro--Pierce Brosnan's The Greatest--FOX Television's New Amsterdam-- and Transport Group's off-broadway production of Bury the Dead, which received a special commemoration by the Lincoln Center Archives.

In 2009, Mandell decided to take his career to the next level by relocating to Los Angeles. Establishing himself virally, starring in three web-series: Eden’s Court, That's a Wrap, and, perhaps most notably, as a cast member of NorthisdeComedy.com, a sketch comedy series which has earned over 300,000 views on the web. He also continued his film and television success by appearing across Cybil Shepard in Expecting Mary and LL Cool J as a guest star on NCIS: Los Angeles.
